For those of you who have read "The God Delusion", you will recall that Richard Dawkins dedicated the book to the memory of the late Douglas Adams (best known as the author of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy). While I was away on my recent vacation, I had the pleasure of reading Adams' The Long Dark Tea-Time of the Soul. You have to love a book that starts out with the following sentence: It can hardly be a coincidence that no language on earth has ever produced the expression "As pretty as an airport". I won't give away the plot here but the story involves Norse gods living in contemporary England. "Immortals was what you wanted, and immortals was what you got", complains one of the gods. So, what would you do if you were an immortal, omnipotent being whom no-one believes in anymore? Adams provides the hilarious answer in this light read that I bet you won't be able to put down. Check it out and I bet you'll be glad you did.
