It's a nice thought, but you never get anywhere with people like this by insulting their beliefs. That's the most surefire way of getting them to ignore you altogether.
If I was delusional and believed that there were little green men living on my roof, I guess I would be offended if you tried to convince me that I was wrong. I suppose the best way to convince me that there aren't little green men on my roof, would be to try and convince me by appealing to reason. However, I know that there are little green men on my roof because they are invisible, an ancient book says it is so and millions of people share that belief. Are you starting to get my point?
