It looks like the popularity of the Canadian coffee chain Tim Horton's and the post below were instrumental in putting us over the hump and achieving our first goal of $250 US for the donation to The Smile Train: http://www.smiletrain.org/site/PageServer?pagename=missionThe receipt from tonight's donation is posted above so we can't be accused of taking your money.
Thanks to the following supporters (in order of our receipt of their donations) who have been instrumental in paying for a cleft palate surgery on a child currently living somewhere in the third world:
Sarah Boyle - United Kingdom
Mark Shaw - Ontario
Jessica Sweeney - Oregon
Nadine Anheier - Kansas
Richard Emond - Florida
Joy Beer - Ohio
William Burden - Ontario
The Atheist Missionary - Ontario (I don't see any reason why I can't pat myself on the back)
The first donation was dedicated in honour of Princeton philosopher Peter Singer and I encourage you all to pick up a copy of his new book The Life You Can Save: http://www.amazon.com/Life-You-Can-Save-Poverty/dp/1400067103. This book has inspired our second charitable goal to raise $500 US for the Worldwide Fistula Fund: http://www.wfmic.org/

I love what you are doing here! Fistula is a dreadful condition that no one should have to live with, especially since its treatable. I know the team at Worldwide Fistula Fund and they are great too! Keep up the good works!
ReplyDeleteYay!
