Almost 3,000,000 people have already viewed this on youtube:
I can understand people professing a vague belief in a higher power that they call God - there is no way to absolutely disprove that belief. However, belief in the "power of prayer" is truly assinine. Just as assinine as praying to a milk jug.
I'm still waiting for someone to explain why God won't heal amputees ....

actually, praying to milk makes more sense, if i'm praying for something to make my cereal more delicious.
ReplyDeleteRegarding amputees, someone actually said, "He does. You just don't see it." Of course! Yet another claim about reality that, huh, isn't possible to actually see and examine. Original.
ReplyDeleteThis video is awesome. (:
Aldous Huxley's Brave New World is in part a critique of the concept of utopia.
ReplyDeleteBibleists would answer your query about amputees by saying that God simply cannot heal everything; what He does is balance the world so that greatness can be celebrated and suffering can be the subject of sympathy. Without suffering, there is no happiness, and vice-versa.
Take that pipe and smoke it.
CKDC: I hope you're being sarcastic. I cannot tell. If not, what a sick, sick person that god is.
ReplyDeleteI think the whole trouble here is that there is too much one dimensional logic going on... I'll almost put money down that you also say that evolution and religion are incompatable? Yes, I agree that your milk-jug story is thought provoking, but let me ask you this - why did you only include the study on the effect of prayer that said it doesn't work? There are just as many SCIENTIFIC studies that say it does??? Obviously, you've made up your mind, so I really don't believe that what I'm saying will make much of a difference, however, I really think that if you are going to quote science, you should research thoroughly, rather than slanting the facts to prove your point. BTW - God exists, and I believe it!
