"Religious beliefs prevent mother from approving cancer treatment for 13 year old son": This story kills two birds with one stone: it shows why religious beliefs (in and of themselves) can be harmful and it also shows how indoctrinating children with religion amounts to child abuse.People often say to me: why do you care what other people believe? The answer is, obviously, that I wouldn't care if they didn't allow their beliefs to dictate how they and others should live their lives.
Daniel Hauser, you are a sick boy but your Mom is far sicker .... in the head.

This is a tragic case, though it is not clear if the family is rejecting medicine for religious reasons, or if they've joined this religion because they oppose medical treatment. The parents have been interested "natural healing" for 18 years, but only joined this religion a year ago.
ReplyDeleteApparently, to join this "religion" (Nemenhah) you just need to pay a $90 "spiritual adoption" fee and $5 a month thereafter.
ReplyDeletePerhaps the parents ought to substitute child adoption for their son in exchange for their "spiritual adoption".
