Even heathen kids can get something worthwhile from church

Church entrances offer some of the best pavement for skateboarding and ripsticking. My kids are curious about why these places are only used once a week and, even then, by dwindling numbers of parishioners. I explain that adults get together once a week to tell each other fairy tales. That seems to satisfy their curiosity. Poor little heathens ...

  1. During the war the local churchyard in the centre of town became a complete overgrown jungle. This presented wonderful play opportunites and all the grown-ups seemed far too preoccupied to interfere.

Now it is tidied and manicured and mainly used by layabouts & druggies.

  2. The Church in my tiny village sits idle and vacant every day except Sundays. It is one of the nicest buldings in the hamlet, for sure. And the property is beautiful as it abuts onto a schoolyard. I've been thinking of using it to grow pot.

  3. Or the adults gather to sing songs! That's another good one...
