Unless you are a moral relativist, I submit that the Muslim subjugation of women is just plain wrong. The religious faithful will be tempted to leave comments such as: "how can you tell right and wrong without the Bible as your objective standard?". My answer is: easily ... evolution endowed all of us with a moral compass to discern right from wrong. It is nice to see that your scorn is not exclusive to Christianity. Don't get me wrong - the big "C" is an easy target, especially Popeism, but other religions have their warts as well.
ReplyDeleteIt seems to me that the treatment of women in Islam is completely backwards. Women are to subjugate themselves and cover themselves completely because of male lust. A woman who does not cover every inch of flesh is "asking" to be raped and then is punish accordingly. Really? Instead of punishing a man for violating a woman, you are going to punish a woman for being violated? The unalterable word of an omniscient god calls out for the victim to be punished and the perpetrator to be vindicated? Now THAT is evil.
