A simple correlation

Here is a simple correlation confirmed by no less a source than the Christian Post. The more religious you are, the more likely it is that your teen daughter(s) will get pregnant:

  1. This article elicited several comments on reddit.com which point out the fact that correlation cannot be equated with causation which, of course, is true. However, one reader left the following comment which I thought was worthy of reposting here:

Religion is certainly behind the distortion of sexuality that causes people not to get contraception. There is evidence of causation because religious people are always constantly telling their kids that sex is dirty, contraception is evil and similar lies. If that is not direct evidence of causation or contribution to you, then nothing will ever be evidence to you -- seeing the sun is not the evidence that the sun exists, seeing a horse is not evidence that horses exist, ad infinitum.

The stats just confirm what we already knew from the direct causative evidence that we have seen.

  2. Maybe religious girls or so oppressed, bored and frustrate that they tend to get pregnant for reason of rebelion. There could be any number of factors not mentioned in the study. It is interesting but, makes no real claims as to the causation. It does serve to harden the resolve of the anti-theistic side of my prsonality. The ignorance of religion has destroyed the lives of these young girls. They must be stopped!
